The members of Tree63 are originally from South Africa. The only existing original member of the band is lead singer/guitarist John Ellis. He is joined by bassist Daniel Omellas and drummer Thenuis Odendaal. Their sound is similar to Delirous?, sort of pop-rock but extremely worshipful. You might here some slight U2 similarities as well.

Tree63 has gone back to the sound that won them a Dove Award and produced 2 number 1 singles. After an arguably mediocre freshman release, their third release, “The Answer to the Question”, is a solid CD. I really enjoyed their initial self-titled release and missed their second CD as I never really heard much from it. This CD is getting lots of airplay on our local Christian radio stations.

I like this CD. The song “Blessed Be Your Name” has really touched me on this. It is a song about perspective. No matter what our circumstances are in this life, the Lord’s name is still blessed. It was written by Matt Redman. I can’t begin to explain how that song, as silly as it might seem, has helped me out over the last few weeks. It’s been awesome. Another song that I really like is “Let Your Day Begin.” The song is asking of Jesus when will he come back, proclaiming “I want to see your face, I want to hear your voice, I want to lay my burden down.” It’s a powerful and very emotional song.

There isn’t a bad song on this CD and it’s sure to touch all who listen. It came at a time for me when I needed to hear it, to be reminded of the majesty and lordship of Jesus. The CD is very upbeat spiritually and emotionally, even the ballads. I highly recommend this CD.
