Tenth Avenue North, Over and Underneath

Listening to the radio the other day and this song comes on that just nails me. I’m trying to figure out what the song is and who’s singing because I’m blown away by the lyrics. It’s one of those times where God totally invades and speaks too me. I had to find out who the band was, I had to have that song Driven on dvd .

Jeanne T. Arrigo, My Favorite Hymns

If you are into, as they said in Oh Brother Where Art Thou, “that good old-timey music,” then have I got an artist for you. Jeanne T. Arrigo, with a voice as smooth as butter and accompanied by several friends who just happen to be great musicians, has released a nice collection of her favorite hymns. Some are fairly well known, others not so much, but the 2-disk set is guaranteed to get your toes tapping.

Wendy Jepsen is an indie-solo artist, releasing her sophomore album, “Song of the Bride”. The CD is a collection of scripture based worship songs built around Wendy’s guitar and vocals. All are original, written by Wendy, save one, “Be Thou My Vision”, which is a Celtic arrangement of the classic hymn. Wendy’s vocals are pleasant and soothing, full of heart and adoration.

Kutless, Strong Tower

Band/Artist: Kutless
Album: “Strong Tower”

Label: BEC Recordings

Welcome to the prerequisite worship album that every popular Christian band seems to do. Frankly, I’m disappointed. I expected more from Kutless.

The members of Tree63 are originally from South Africa. The only existing original member of the band is lead singer/guitarist John Ellis. He is joined by bassist Daniel Omellas and drummer Thenuis Odendaal. Their sound is similar to Delirous?, sort of pop-rock but extremely worshipful. You might here some slight U2 similarities as well.
