I didn’t want to wait until this weekend to post this, thought I would jump ahead and let everyone know. There are several interesting CDs due out, some soon, some later.
I have a couple of interesting Christmas albums for you here. They come from total polar ends of the music spectrum. The first is from the indie darling Rosie Thomas with a very low-key CD of her (and yours’ I’m sure) Christmas favorites, title “A Very Rosie Christmas.” The second is from Project 86 (yeah, I’m not kidding) and is titled “This Time of Year.”
Band/Artist: Project 86
Album: “And the Rest Will Follow”
Label: Tooth And Nail
Here is the fifth installment from Project 86
. Could it be as awesome as their last album? In truth, at first this album lacked something for me, but it quickly grew on me. The music hasn’t changed much from “Truthless Heroes” and neither did the vocals. The lyrics are still in your face and this is how we feel whether you like it or not. So what was it that was missing? Simply, the songs seemed to run together and there wasn’t that one song or two that got stuck in my head. However, just like a few of my other favorite albums, it took a while for it to grow on me.
Band/Artist: Project 86
Album: “Songs to Burn Your Bridges By”
Label: Tooth and Nail Records
Be prepared. This album isn’t for the tame of heart. It will beat you into submission. There, you’ve been warned. The 4th CD from the Orange County quintet is aggressive, relentless and a bit angry. It blasts out of the gates and you’re pummeled by sonic, crunchy guitar work and a heavy beat. Andrew Schwab, lead vocalist, screams his way through the CD and it doesn’t let up, ever.
