I went out to check up on a few of my favorite bands to see what they were doing. Poking around on Spoken’s site and found that they have a free mp3 download
on their PureVolume page . The song is “Bitter Taste” and features Cory from Norma Jean.
I didn’t want to wait until this weekend to post this, thought I would jump ahead and let everyone know. There are several interesting CDs due out, some soon, some later.
Band/Artist: Various Artists
Album: “Lightning Strikes Twice Again”
Label: Retroactive Records
To be totally hones, I’m only familiar with a couple of the bands on this album, metal not really being my choice of styles. And with that, there are only a couple of songs that I’d be likely to listen to again. I’m sorry, but this CD just brings back to many bad memories of the 80’s glam rock thing. I shudder to think about it.
Band/Artist: Project 86
Album: “And the Rest Will Follow”
Label: Tooth And Nail
Here is the fifth installment from Project 86
. Could it be as awesome as their last album? In truth, at first this album lacked something for me, but it quickly grew on me. The music hasn’t changed much from “Truthless Heroes” and neither did the vocals. The lyrics are still in your face and this is how we feel whether you like it or not. So what was it that was missing? Simply, the songs seemed to run together and there wasn’t that one song or two that got stuck in my head. However, just like a few of my other favorite albums, it took a while for it to grow on me.
Band/Artist: Stavesacre
Album: “How To Live With A Curse”
Label: Abacus Recordings
Coming off of their self titled release in 2002 the new, long awaited 5th full length release How to Live with a Curse has arrived. Stavesacre is known for their amazing moments of inspired song writing wrapped up in a uniquely creative style of hard rock
. This album will not disappoint fans that have been waiting so patiently. And even more welcome news to fans, the band has a new multi-album deal with Abacus Records, an imprint of the Century Media Group.
Band/Artist: Spoken
Album: “Last Chance To Breath”
Label: Tooth And Nail
One aspect of Spoken that I have loved over the past albums is once more a major role in their songs, the lyrics. The songs are not overly in your face but they clearly get the message across about love, life, and the unseen. In their song “From the Inside” the lyrics talk over and over about surrendering everything to God. In the song “1992″ it seems that this was the year Matt gave his life to the lord. The chorus says, “I gave you my heart, I gave everything to you, and in return you gave me everything that I could never deserve. You gave me freedom.”
I just love how Spoken weaves their music and lyrics to bring a positive experience to your ear. The vocals combined with their music makes this album one to own. If you’re a previous fan of Spoken or a new one I suggest you check this album out.
