Band/Artist: Stacie Orrico
Album: “Stacie Orrico”

Label: ForeFront Records

Stacie Orrico was found singing, in 1998 at the age of twelve, at a contest. The debut of her first CD “Genuine” came out two years later and went gold. She has toured with Destiny’s Child as their opening act and signed with Virgin Records, a major label. She is now seventeen years old, has matured in her singing and has now released her second album titled “Stacie Orrico”. She was also Gospel Music Association’s Female Artist of the Year.

The message that I got from this album is: if you have faith in God then you won’t get stuck to other things that may get you into trouble. That is Stacie’s focus in her music, to tell others of her faith in God and to deliver a positive message. The music is R&B and with a mix of hip-hop. Every song has a different beat, so the music doesn’t just drag on and on and on.

The lyrics on the CD differ from song to song. Some talk about love. “(There’s got to be) more to life” speaks about the danger of drugs and how she is seeking something to do rather than drugs. My favorite song on the CD is “Instead”. It’s about not judging people and looking at them in a different perspective rather than their appearance. The song “Stuck” is about being hung up on a guy that she doesn’t want to be, but she can’t find a way to become unstuck.

I gave this album a four star rating for many reasons. She has an awesome voice. The CD has a positive message throughout. Stacie isn’t afraid to speak out about her faith and what’s on her mind. She’s a good role model compared to many of the female artists on the radio. I would recommend this album to everyone, especially teens and young adults.
