I was thinking about what my favorite groups were, both present and past and thought I’d put together a list to share with you. So here it goes.

  • Project 86

Project 86

Train Master movie download
The Job dvdrip

is my go to band when I need some straight up, rip your face off rock. And they have a great message to boot. Songs To Burn Your Bridges By is my favorite, all time album, hands down. That album actually saved me when I was commuting for this one job, it kept me sane through that. If you’ve never listened to these guys, they are the best band you’ve never heard of. Oh yeah.

  • Red

Taken In Broad Daylight aka Snatched the movie

    Wait Until Dark on dvd

Strictly Sexual buy

Red has rocketed up my list with their recent album, Innocence and Instinct

Dodge City

Dance of the Dead ipod

. It’s one of the most brilliant rock albums I’ve heard in a long time. They’re coupling of an orchestra along side their music is simply amazing. You can cut the drama with a knife.

  • Beethoven buy Jars of Clay Bound by Honor (aka “Blood in, blood out”) the movie The Rainmaker download

Honestly, Jars of Clay is the group that actually turned me on to the whole Christian genre. I really hadn’t been to keen on what I had heard up to that point, it seemed like the Christian rock scene was still stuck in the 80’s back then. They ripped open the genre with their unique sound back then. And they’re still putting out good music today, six million album and three Grammy’s don’t lie.

  • U2

U2 and I go way back to when I was in high school. I won’t say when, will give far to much away. But anyway, back when Mtv actually played music videos, I remember when I first saw U2 and they were doing their song Gloria. I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve never gotten to see them in concert yet, but I will be changing that this fall!

  • The Legend of the Tamworth Two dvd
    • V for Vendetta on dvd

    Lifehouse

Elf
Lifehouse

  • Mousehunt download
Roanoke: The Lost Colony release

has some of the most honest music around. I’ve loved this band since I first heard them. No one sings from their heart like Jason Wade does. Honestly, I can’t think of a song of theirs that I don’t like. They also put on a great show, showing up in my town one Halloween night a couple of years back. Again, another great band.

  • Starflyer 59

As far as unique sounds, Jason Martin knocks it out of the park with his gig Starflyer 59 Green Street Hooligans 2 hd Wargames: The Dead Code move . Amazing guitar work, awesome lyrics and great vocals, you just don’t get much better than this. And Jason has a ton of work out there, he has to be one of the most prolific Christian artists out there.

  • Matt Kearney

Matt Kearney

might seem a little out of place here, but I really like his laid back style. His music has emotion, it’s deep and I just like the way he thinks. I got to see him in concert on one of the best vacations I ever had also.

So there you have. I could actually keep writing as there are really several other groups that I should have on this list, but I wanted to keep it manageable. So let’s hear it from you, what are your favorite groups or artists?

Funny. I was working on a blog post with my favorite albums at the exact same time… http://www.mandoron.com/2009/07/22/my-top-5-favorite-albums-of-all-time/

My favorite bands: Jars of Clay, Spoken, Thousand Foot Krutch, Carbon Leaf, Nickelcreek, Petra

Thanks for the reply Ronnie. It’s pretty hard to create a short list, I could easily have added Disciple and Skillet also, but I wanted to keep it at 7. Spoken could have been on there also. Thanks again.

  3. Barry Wallace on August 20th, 2009

I would definitely have Switchfoot in there somewhere, and probably Glenn Kaiser Band.

Yeah, I should’ve had Switchfoot on there. Great Band.

    thanks for the comment Barry.
