“Twilight” is Future of Forestry’s first full-length CD. They hale from San Diego, California and was founded by two members of the band Something Like Silas, Eric Owyoung and Nick Maybury. They have been joined by Luke Floeter on Bass and Spencer Kim on Drums. The sound of FoF is similar to Silas, featuring ethereal guitar hooks and emo

-ish vocals. I also hear similarities in their music to bands like Delirious?, the Choir, the Violet Burning and Common Children.

The band name actually came from the title of a CS Lewis poem that stuck with the band. They actually are a worship band for a church in Southern California and much of their music has a worshipful feel to it. It’s deep, sincere music. I found it very contemplative.

A couple of my favorites are “Open Wide”, a very Delirious? sounding track. It’s a soaring rocker of a track. Following that would be “All I Want.” Both of these are rocking, worshipful songs. I also really like “Speak to Me Gently”. It’s an acoustic ballad of God’s tenderness.

This is a great first CD from these guys. I like the honesty and sincerity in their music. A definite listen if you like the above mentioned bands. And especially if you were a Something like Silas fan.
