Band/Artist: Disciple
Album: “Disciple”
Label: SRE Recordings
What else is there to say except that Disciple
is back again with another big CD release. So what is different from previous albums? In two words; the music. No, Disciple has not become soft by any means. The big screams are still there with their hard pounding base and grinding guitars. But what has changed is a melodic sound in their lyrics and guitars.

Disciple comments on their past record, “When we made records in the past it was all about how fast we could play, how hard, and how much I could scream.” This time how ever they felt they could keep their edge and yet still deliver a melodic hook that is sure to catch any music listener. To keep it simple, I was shocked and pleased at the recent changes. In all five albums Disciple has put out, not once has their talent and music disappointed me.
The one thing that is still the same with Disciple is that these guys never back down when it comes to their faith. What really stands out to me about Disciple is their heart for God. Their lyrics are once more in your face about God and life. In all the years that I have heard Disciple play and through all five albums, they have never been ashamed to speak their mind about their faith. For instance in the song “Worth it All,” the main chorus repeats over and over “it’s worth it all if I can just see you, feel you. I know it will be worth it all.” This song puts out Disciples views that in life, we all have up and downs and many of us get scars from certain situations in life. But they like to point out that it is worth all the pain just to be with God.
All in all, Disciple’s new disc is a very pleasant surprise. At first I was a bit skeptical, I mean after all, if it isn’t broke why fix it? In the end though I feel Disciple has another hit that will not disappoint their fans or any new recruits. Disciple catches four stars out of five with their new melodic hook.
