Band/Artist: Demon Hunter
Album: “Summer of Darkness”
Label: Solid State
If you are a fan of Demon Hunter just like I am then you know as well as I do how much this band just rocks. The big question on all our minds, can their sophomore release possibly be any better then their first? Apparently, that would be a big affirmative. Their second album, titled “Summer of Darkness,” definitely keeps their hardcore grind-sound, intensity and melodic vocals.

A few of my favorite songs on the CD include “Not Ready To Die,” “Beheaded,” “My Heart String Come Undone,” “Annihilate The Corrupt,” and “Coffin Builder.” Each song has a deep meaning and intensity to the lyrics. Although they don’t pound Jesus over and over, they still get the point across in a poetic form. For instance, in “Coffin Builder” the chorus cries out for mercy and forgiveness from God. While “Annihilate The Corrupt” deals with man and his struggle with sin and how God can draw you near.
Demon Hunter is on the rise in popularity, especially in the hard-core secular market. With the opportunities of a song on the recent Resident Evil Apocalypse Sound track and hosting Head Bangers Ball on MTV 2, you can be sure to hear more of Demon Hunter in the future. If you’re a hard-core junkie like I am, Summer of Darkness is a must have with a score of 5 out of 5.
